Natural refrigerants
RefrigerantFor more future security
The fact that Mitsubishi Electric is increasingly focusing on sustainable solutions was demonstrated by the wide range of solutions presented, which are based on natural refrigerants such as R290 (propane) and R744 (CO2). With a low GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 0.02 (IPCC6) and 1 respectively, they represent a much more environmentally friendly alternative to fluorinated refrigerants and are therefore also a future-proof solution with regard to the F-Gas Regulation. Another argument in favor of using these refrigerants is their particularly high energy efficiency and excellent thermodynamic and refrigeration properties, depending on the area of application. As powerful and energy-saving refrigerants, they therefore play a major role in Mitsubishi Electric's current and future air/water and air/air heat pump range.
Efficient solutions for residential buildings
Residential buildingHeating trends for apartments and apartment buildings
One area of the stand was dedicated to the residential sector and the question of how detached, semi-detached and multi-family houses can be heated, air-conditioned and cooled sustainably in the future. In response, we presented both tried-and-tested solutions and new developments. Among other things, we presented the Ecodan air/water heat pump from the PUZ-WZ series, the latest monobloc version of which uses the future-proof R290 . Already available for some time in the 5 and 6 kW nominal heat output levels, the new range adds the 8.5, 10 and 12 kW versions to the Ecodan family. Both the monobloc and split systems can be cascaded with up to six identical modules, achieving a nominal heat output of up to 72 or 84 kW.
For properties where there are no boiler rooms in the building, our cooperation partner - PreFab GmbH - offers external heat pump heating centers. These are supplied pre-configured with the Ecodan cascades (with four or six devices as standard) for easy installation on site. This space-saving innovation represents a future-proof perspective, especially for housing associations, when it comes to renovating apartment buildings and residential complexes while they are occupied. Flexible, highly efficient and in compliance with GEG regulations, heat pump containers meet all requirements for heat supply and domestic hot water preparation.
In the area of air/air heat pump systems , we also presented a pioneering new development based on the natural refrigerant R290 in the form of the MSZ-RZ/MUZ-RZ model series. To further increase the safety of these appliances and alert users to any leaks, the appliances not only have leakage sensors. In addition, we have also added an odorant to the refrigerant oil, which in itself is odorless. The new split heat pump, which offers a reliable heat supply even at temperatures as low as -30 °C, is initially available with nominal heat outputs of 2.5, 3.5 and 5 kW.
Heating solutions for large residential and commercial complexes
Large building complexesCommercial, municipal and industrial applications
We presented powerful chillers , reversible heat pumps and domestic hot water systems for commercial, municipal and industrial applications. Depending on requirements, these can be used individually or in the form of a cascade. As a solution for smaller commercial applications, we presented the MEHP-iB series, a compact air/water heat pump that also uses the refrigerant R290. The system achieves water temperatures of up to 75 °C and is available in seven output sizes from 12 to 38 kW. The additional function of domestic hot water preparation is also possible. As a further solution for the commercial and industrial sector, we presented the reversible MEHP-iS G09 heat pump series, the latest version of which also includes an R290 variant. In the course of development, the successful solution for high heat output requirements was extended to three different modules with nine output sizes from 50 to 150 kW nominal heat output. Cascaded with eight appliances, outputs of 1,200 kW can be achieved.
Another product area we are showcasing is our fan coil units , which achieve the desired room temperatures in combination with a heat pump, even at low system temperatures. This ensures even more efficient and cost-saving operation of the heat pump. In addition to the CXW 4-way ceiling cassettes, which are primarily used for comfort air conditioning in hotels, supermarkets and event rooms, the i-MXW wall-mounted units were also exhibited. With an output range of 2 to 3.7 kW, they provide air conditioning for hotels, offices and residential buildings. The third solution, the NEW LIFE units, rounded off the product presentation in the fan coil range. While the a-LIFE series is available in ten sizes as a 2- and 4-pipe system, the whisper-quiet i-LIFE series, equipped with EC fans, is available in five sizes as a 2- and 4-pipe system.
We added our QAHV hot water heat pump, which uses R744, to the range of heating solutions based on natural refrigerants that were presented in Frankfurt am Main. With hot water temperatures of up to 90 °C, it is designed for particularly high hot water requirements. One reason why this tried-and-tested series is particularly suitable for the housing industry, hotels or commercial applications. The CAHV air/water heat pump is an ideal solution for heat pump applications with high heating output requirements and high flow temperatures of up to 75 °C. The appliance series based on the refrigerant R290 is ideal for supplying residential complexes with space heating and domestic hot water, hotels and health centers or process applications in trade and industry.
Innovative ventilation systems
Ventilation systemsLossnay - For fresh air without heat loss
As the perfect complement to his heat pump range, we put our Lossnay ventilation systems in the spotlight at the trade fair. Ventilation systems are becoming increasingly important as building envelopes in new buildings are becoming ever tighter and existing buildings are barely letting any fresh air into the house following thermal renovation measures. From apartments to large detached houses, we offer an optimum solution with controlled domestic ventilation to supply fresh air to individual rooms as a decentralized system (VL-80) or centrally (VL-250/350/500) to the entire building.
In contrast to manual shock ventilation, no heat is lost thanks to integrated heat recovery. Another plus point is the integrated state-of-the-art filter technology, which effectively removes fine dust, allergens, odors and even viruses from the air we breathe. In addition, the devices in the VL-80 series regulate humidity and thus contribute to a comfortable climate. We also had the right ventilation solutions for non-residential areas: With Lossnay LGH-RVXT3, we presented an easy-to-install and compact ventilation system that scores points with finer adjustment options compared to its predecessor model. In addition, the devices have a high static pressure and ensure a permanently healthy indoor climate thanks to CO2-dependent control. The SVL-150/200 model, which can ventilate rooms of up to 200 square meters, was also on display.
Smart control systems
Control systemsThe "brain" of heat pumps
We also presented an extensive range of control solutions to match the diverse heat pump, air conditioning and ventilation systems. The new generation of cloud-based MELCloud applications, which can be used to control and monitor systems via PC, tablet or smartphone regardless of location and time, is particularly smart. With the MELCloud Home and MELCloud Commercial versions, we offer demand-oriented solutions for private individuals and property management companies. All individual devices and components can be optimally networked in systems of different sizes - and Mitsubishi Electric products can also be integrated into a higher-level building management system on site.
Rental service for chillers and heat pumps
MELRentMELRent- Temporary cold and heat
With the new MELRent business segment, we are expanding our range of services to include temporary solutions for rental cooling and heating. Whether in an emergency, as a stopgap or for temporary planned use: mobile heating or cooling is available nationwide within just 24 hours. Individual heat pumps for heating and cooling with outputs of 20 to 570 kW are available, which cover even higher output requirements as a cascade. The systems can be monitored remotely as standard, so that the best possible efficiency and reliable operation are also ensured for rental cooling and heating.
